SEA HARRIER TAIL
Based on a 1980 N0.899 Squadron RNAS aircraft that famously took part in the falklands conflict.
Although No.899 was the HQ Training Squadron, some of their aircraft were transferred to make up the 20 that served with No.800 on the carrier "Hermes'" and No.801 squadron on "Invincible" whilst still in their 899 markings, defending the fleet against 100 plus Argentine attackers until May 1982 when were they reinforced. Harriers shot down 20 Argentine aircraft and none of them were lost in aerial combat.
Hand-shaped, drilled, scored and riveted 0.5mm aluminium panel, sprayed with authentic RNAS Extra Dark Sea Grey enamel, and slightly 'weathered'. Mounted on a black painted wooden strengthening frame.
