4468 LNER MALLARD ENAMELLED PANEL
Inspired by the LNER A4 streamlined steam locomotive 'Mallard' built at Doncaster, England in 1938, which still holds the world speed record of 126mph and is preserved today at the NRM in York in running condition.
The beautiful gold, black, red, maroon and white cab-side number on its distinctive blue background has been hand-painted in oil based enamels as accurately as possible using traditional sign writing techniques, but this is an artwork not a full size replica. The domed 'rivets' have been added to evoke the steam age.
This unique piece would make an ideal gift for steam buffs and vintage and rail enthusiasts. Ideal decor for your home, man cave, layout room, club, workshop, garage or as a retail display item.
Brush-painted enamels on 0.5mm aluminium sheet with folded back edges and domed copper upholstery pins. W975xH365mm.
