BRITISH RAILWAYS LION ENAMELLED PANEL
Inspired by the logo used on the coal tenders of British Railways steam locomotives from 1948-1956.
This has been hand-painted as accurately as possible in oil-based enamels using traditional techniques, but this is an artwork not a replica. The domed 'rivets', 'rust' and weathering evoke the hard-working steam locomotives of the era.
The stunning industrial art deco logo design was affectionately known as 'The Ferret and Dartboard' or the 'Unicycling Lion' and is attributed to sculptor Cecil Thomas (1885-1976) and famed graphic designer Abram Games (1914-1996).
Ideal gift for steam and rail enthusiasts, great decor for home, man cave, layout room, garage, club or retail decor.Brush-enameled 0.5mm aluminium panel with folded back edges and domed copper upholstery pins. W595xH580mm.
